GOZDOWICE (former: Güstebiese)
Location
Gozdowice are locted on the Polish German border, 12 km west from Mieszkowice, 25 km south from Cedynia and 25 km north-east from Wriezen (Germany). You can get there from Germany via border passage in osinów Dolny or in summer time by ferry boat from Güstebieser Loose (Germany).
It belongs to community of Mieszkowice, province westpomerania.
Gozdowice are smal village, about 120 inhabitants.
Gozdowice are located in tha lag of Cedynia Landscape Park
on the high riverside, with beautiful view to the Odra Valley.
On the west side there is Odra River, and meadows. Frome another sides everywhere are woods.
History
Today
In October 2007 was opened here a border to Germany. Ferry boat have connected 2 riversides the same way like it was before World War II.

Museum of the Military Engineers of 1st Polish Army in Gozdowice (Güstebiese)
Since 1965, located in the building that in april 1945 was the settle of commander of military operations in the Odra valley. It contains memories of the Polish and Russian army actions in spring 1945.

Before World war II Gozdowice (Güstebiese) had ferry boat passage on the Odra River. After War passage was closed. It was reopened in autumn 2007 A.D. The ferry works from april to october. It takes aboard up to 6 cars.

Stones collection in Gozdowice
In front of house no. 22 in Gozdowice (Güstebiese) is located interesting collection of stones. Among the stones you can find: border stones from 19th century, old Prussian post stone, War-monument from Franco-Prussian War in 1870-1871 and top part of the old monument of Frederick II of Prussia, that was standing on a hill near Gozdowice and was destroyed during World War II and spend many years laying in the river.
