Church buildings, some of them rather plain, appropriate to the rural living conditions, others impress
by the size and design and demonstrate wealth and pride of the builders.
There are simple field stone churches, but you will find religious buildings with over one hundred meters high towers too.
The Neumark peoples was before World War II especially Protestants, today prevails the Catholic population.
The good condition of many churches is evidence of the religiosity of the current inhabitants, many a church is a
real gem.

Granite church from 13th century. Few times rebuilt. Inside elements from 17th century (altar). Holy Mass every sunday: 8:30, 11:30 AM, 6:00 PM.

Church of the Immaculate Heart of Mary in Barlinek
Gothic church, the tower is 52 meters high. The church was destroyed by a fire and rebuild in 1852.

Church dedicated to Blessed Virgin Mary in Cedynia (Zehden)
It is old gothic building made of field-stone from XIII century. Walls are 1,3 m. thick. One of the church bells is from 1864 A.D. Holy mass: Sundays: 8:00, 11:30, 19:00, other days: 18:00

Marien Church in Chojna is in restoration since 1986. The initiator of church restoration was german architect Günth
er Kumkar. The renovation is mostly sponsored by "fundation for polish-german cooperation". The church tower is over 102 metres high. It is 6th that high tower in Poland. Church in Chojna can be visited every day. Near the entrance you can find phone number or you may go to tourist information (not far) and someone from the tourist information may come and open the church. There is also possible visiting of the tower.

Buildt in 14th century gothic church. In the beginning it belong to closter of Augustinians. From 1536 to 1690 it was changed to warehouse. Before World War II the church was not used as church, but as gymnasium and fire brigade depot. After the war, it was not so destroyed as the St. Mary church and became a church again. Holy mass on Sundays at: 7:00, 9:00, 11:00 AM and 6:00 PM. Other days 6:00 PM.

If you drive thru Chojna (Königsberg/Nm.) direction from to Szczecin (Stettin) than before Town Hall turn right. Drive about 400 m. If you drive from Osinów Dolny than before town hall turn right and after 200 m turn left and next right. Not easy to find. |

Church dedicated to St. Stanislaus in Cychry (Zicher)
Church made of stone and brick. It was built in beginning of 13th century. It's fundators was probably Knights Templars. Todays tower (previous destroyed during the Sarbinowo Battle) was built in 1768. Holy mass every Sundays: 12:00 AM, other days: 6:00 PM. (Kościół parafialny)

If you like to get to Cychry (Zicher) than drive from Kostrzyn (Küstrin) north direction Dębno. Then about 4 kilometres before debno take road left according to road marks. Old Part of Cychry (Zicher) with the church is a little bit further behind the new houses. |

Church dedicated to Blessed Virgin Mary of Częstochowa in Czachów (Zachow)
Early-gothic church built probably in the beginning of XIVth century. Made of stone. Inside the church has been found and recovered old (from XIVth centur) paintings. This paintings created in very simply, childlish style are showing the characters of knights, devil, animals and another.

Church built about 1260. Its fundators were the Knights Templars.
The church was painted by the famous German painter Robert Warthmüller as a background for painting -> Der König überall showing the king Friedrich II visiting a potatoe plantation. At that time, the tower had a different look than now. Holy mass every Sunday: 10:30 AM. (Parish: Cychry)

Church dedicated to St. Peter and Paul in Dębno (Neudamm/Nm.)
The three-nave church was built about 1855 A.D. based on a design by the architect Flaminius. A church from the 13th century existed in the same place before the present one was constructed. Inside the chapel there is a sarcophagus which was found in Dębno (Neudamm/Nm.) cemetery. Holy mass every Sunday: 7:00, 8:30, 10:00, 11:30 AM, 6:00, 9:00 PM. Other days 7:00 AM, 6:00 PM. Cross-shaped building made in 1692 from stones with an unusual truss tower. The pulpit in Baroque style and the altar are worth seeing.
